The Name “Zetor”
The name “Zetor” holds historical significance and was coined by Rostislav Sapák, a member of the Czech Economic Department, in 1946. The name is a combination of “Zet” (the spelling of the letter Z in the alphabet, representing the Arms Factory “Zbrojovka”) and the suffix “-or” from the word “tractor.” This clever name also alludes to the phrase “farming tractor” in Czech, “ZEmědělský trakTOR.”
