Their pioneering spirit set the stage for the formation of SAME (Società Accomandita Motori Endotermici) in Treviglio (Bergamo) in 1942. The acquisition of Lamborghini Trattori S.p.A. in 1973 marked a significant milestone in SAME’s growth journey.

In 1979, with the acquisition of Hürlimann, SAME changed its name to SAME-Lamborghini-Hürlimann (S-L-H). The year 1995 saw a transformative moment when the group acquired Deutz-Fahr from the German group KHD. In 2005, SDF’s acquisition of Croatia-based Ðuro Ðaković led to the establishment of Deutz-Fahr Combines, a division producing Deutz-Fahr branded components and combine harvesters.

The commitment to preserving its rich heritage led to the creation of the Same Deutz-Fahr Historical Archives and Museum at the company’s main headquarters in Treviglio in 2008.

In 2011, SDF acquired Grégoire A/S, a company specializing in equipment for wine farming, olive oil farming, pruning, and the harvesting of grapes and olives. The same year, the group initiated a joint venture in China with Shandong Changlin Machinery.

SDF’s global reach expanded further in 2014 with the establishment of SAME Deutz-Fahr Traktör Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. in Istanbul, Turkey. Additionally, the company acquired Agricultural Equipment in China. In 2016, SDF acquired a majority stake in its Chinese business, solidifying its presence in this critical market.

In 2022, SDF made a significant move by acquiring VitiBot, a French leader in the production of autonomous and electric robots for vineyards. This acquisition aligns with SDF’s commitment to technological advancement and sustainable agriculture.

SDF’s global operations are impressive, with nine production sites, twelve commercial branches, one joint venture in China, 155 importers, over 3,100 dealers, and a dedicated workforce of 4,400 employees.

Notably, SDF’s research and development endeavors have received support through a €50 million European Investment Bank loan, secured by the European Fund for Strategic Investments. This funding is in line with Horizon 2020 and the Paris Agreement’s objectives, aiming to enhance the efficiency of bioeconomy supply chains while reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

• Ranipet, India: Produces low and low-mid power tractors up to 110 HP and diesel engines ranging from 30 to 170 HP.
• Châteaubernard, France: Focuses on machinery for grape and olive harvesting, both towed and self-propelled.
